First of all, it is important to locate your power source. If you are doin residential wiring, you can easily find this by looking for a big rectangular box installed on the wall.
The main wire that comes out of the bottom of your power source is called the power wire. To figure out where you electricity is headed, you can follow the main wires to other box outlets around your home. Being able to identify pathways between electrical sources can help you troubleshoot any individual wires without having to consider the whole system.
